Summary
Ayo's mother founded "See Us," the biggest civil rights organization to hit New York City in decades. Ayo has spent her life helping See Us battle police brutality and racial injustice. But now she wants out. She longs to be a normal teen and focus on her social life, not social issues. When a riot breaks out between protestors and police, her mom is badly injured. Before she has a chance to deal with the pain and anger, the organization calls for her to step up and guide them. And now as the streets of Harlem crackle with tension and violence, Ayo must look to her ancestors for guidance. Does she have what it takes to lead the very movement she was so desperate to escape?
